Walmart cashier told me they won't accept free coupons -- AGAIN

On January 4th, I tried to use a free item coupon at Walmart.  I was abiding by corporate policy, but I was denied.  You can read about that here:  My Walmart refuses free item coupons!

On January 8th, after blogging, complaining to corporate through the receipt and Facebook, I received a phone call from the manager of the Kingwood, West Virginia Walmart.  She apologized and said all CSMs and cashiers would be "re-trained" to take free item coupons.  You can read about that here:  Follow up about my Walmart not taking free item coupons.

So today I head to Walmart, and again have a totally free coupon I had received from www.mycokerewards.com with a hologram, serial number, my name and address on the mailer, etc.  According to company policyhttp://corporate.walmart.com/coupon-policy they will accept totally free coupons that are not printed from the Internet.

So the cashier said, "I can't take that."   I called the number that was still in my phone to talk to the manager on duty.  The cashier asked another cashier if the coupon could be used.  The other cashier said no.  The first cashier called a CSM and the CSM said "I wish I could say yes, but I don't want to get in trouble."  The person I called on the phone had hung up on me by this point.  A different manager showed up and said she would allow me to use it.

Really?  When I was called three weeks ago today and told that all cashiers and CSMs would be told to abide by corporate policy this is just baloney!  It didn't even look questionable.

The next closest store that accepts free item coupons is an hour's drive each way.  I plan on complaining again to corporate and hopefully the manager will tell the cashiers to accept coupons in accordance with company policy.  Even the CSM said "they told us not to accept them".  I asked "Who is they?' and was told the store manager.

I will continue to keep you updated on the situation.

You should try doing some cashier profiling when you choose a cashier. Look for a cashier that looks like they don't give a crap about their job, and go thru their line. Rather than the ones who think that their job is being a coupon police officer.

Don't hate me but at my CVS not only did they accept my free coke 24 pack coupons - which of course they should, but the coupon when scanned rings up $4.99 so I get the overage applied to the rest of my order.
